Hello everyone so today I have something from my previous work that I enjoy. Right now I'm a game master for a Star Wars rpg and during the course of the game I like to build some back scenes and more of the galaxy. I also use it to also create backgrounds to the npcs to give them more impact when they are introduced or maybe even when they fall in combat.
That's my whole objective when I write these kinds of pieces and I hope my players will enjoy the game more. So far at least from my group they really enjoy my Star Wars game and a few enjoy these items I place with in the universe. So here is a little sneak peak from my game and would love to see some feedback.
To also give more information about this, both characters are returning from previous games i've run. With at this point they have spent almost 30 years of combat together though Karen who we see was captured by the enemy. I felt this was touching and also for those players returning from the previous game can see what happened to this old knight of the Republic.

Commander Ackto was disembarking from his X-wing on the hanger deck. The adrenaline, the rush of the last 2 hours of combat was finally leaving his body as he stumbled abit as he walked. With almost 30 years of combat he was really feeling it today of all days as he slowly walked across the hanger. Stopping at his perch in the middle of the bay he watched and counted as the other fighters returned, as they did he counted as his follow piloted landed.
For 30 minutes he stood motionless even as his body ached and wished for him to rest, but tradition was tradition. As the final craft embarked he had his bitter answer, out of 24 craft that left for the mission 19 returned. Though his squadron only suffered one moonlight squadron had lost 5 brothers & sisters today. Leaving his perch he started to make his way to the briefing room to give his report.
He took his time, knowing the General allowed him to carry this old tradition. This was a perk of fighting along side some for 30 years it allowed some liberties in rank. As he slowly walked passed a hurried medical team, he saw a younger pilot get rush off. It looks like they might still have another one lost even though they made it home. Though he lamted another one would perish this was routine, he had lost hundreds if not thousands of pilots in this time.
Finally making it to the briefing room he still took a measured paced. This was where a martial instinct kicked in and the slight limp he had vanished as he picked up the pace and walked with confidence and price. As he made his way through the darkened room he made his way to a desk that was occupied at the end of the room. Stopping in front of it he clasp his heels and saluted.
" General both squadrons have returned, the mission was a success". As he stood motionless he saw her give the signal to be more at ease and heard her voice speak with aged but a powerful grace " How many did we lose this time though ?". He eased abit he spoke softly but crisp " 5 confirmed dead with another one looks to be in bad condition". The general looked him deep in the eyes, the lock of those eyes to his he could see her piercing into to him and then some. She spoke again " Ackto my friend that's not all is it ?".
He didn't know how to respond even after all this time he still didn't know to speak to her. " I guess its just today im really starting to feel the war more then usual". He shrugged his shoulders and hands up slight " I guess I'm just feeling a little lost, I thought with you...".
Before he could go on the general was on her feet and approached him. The grace of all these years never left, nor the strength of purpose in he stride. What came next was something he never thought in a million years happened, she held him in a hug. He stumbled for words " I just ...." before he could say more she put her index finger on his lips " Not another word".
She gripped him tighter for a few minutes back into the hug. It seemed like a life time then she spoke " You have fought a life time of war, like me your a relic of another age one that thought there was hope". She pulled back from the hug and fixed her robes " Like me you thought fighting would bring peace and you wouldn't be sending kids to fight". She then looked him in the eyes again and locked " My friend that hope is gone, all we can do is keep fighting till it's time to past the torch I know you'd rather live your days in peace but I don't see that happening". As he looked at her he thought he saw her almost lamet " Im sorry but till the empire is gone we will not have peace or hope".
Seeing her like this he wanted to break further he finally replied" I know and I will keep fighting I just wish we wouldn't lose so many damn kids on these missions". He took a step forward " I've made peace a long time ago I would never live in peace I just hope that one day it'll be me and not them". He could see the hurt in her eyes as he said that, she almost in a whisper " Please don't say that, I know they mean alot but you are all I have left with out you...". Akto finally saw the tears and he knew even there general was at the brink . Holding her tight this time "Sorry I guess us warriors get no happy endings or peace then Karen?"
